POSITION SUMMARY
The Physics Laboratory Manager serves as supervisor of the Physics and Astronomy Department's laboratories and equipment. This is a full-time, 12 month schedule position. The incumbent also teaches some sections of introductory physics laboratories when student demand requires more lab sections than can be taught by the full-time faculty.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
• Set up and test introductory and upper-level physics laboratories.
• Teach laboratory sections in Physics 110, 120, 130 and 220 as needed.
• Prepare lecture demonstrations. The supervisor should maintain a catalog of the demonstrations that can be performed with available equipment.
• Set up astronomy laboratories as assigned.
• Management and maintenance of the department public areas including but not limited to hallway display cases, the department lobby, the department webpage, and dissemination of student research and internship opportunities.
• Maintaining and supervising activity in the machine shop. This includes but is not limited to keeping tools consolidated in the tool boxes and ensuring the equipment is running.
• Purchase equipment for the department. This includes equipment for faculty research as well as for the teaching laboratories.
• Manage and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Assist with maintenance and operation of equipment at McKim Observatory.
• Assist the faculty members with the development and maintenance of research laboratory facilities;
• Other duties at the direction of the Chair of the Department of Physics and Astronomy.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Bachelor's degree in Physics (or related science) required; (four year college or university)
Experience: Minimum one-year teaching in a laboratory setting highly preferred and prior experience in an academic environment preferred, minimum one-year.
Computer Skills: Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and general computer literacy
Other Requirements:
• Willingness to learn necessary electronics and machine shop skills
• Willingness to acquire proficiency in constructing and maintaining web pages
• Ability to work with people, including faculty members and students
