Job Description
The Department of Physics at Boston University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer beginning September 1, 2016, renewable based on satisfactory performance. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching in both studio and interactive lecture settings, working with both undergraduate Learning Assistants and graduate Teaching Assistants, and will be able to work effectively with colleagues both within the department and more widely at the College and University level. The department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through teaching and service.
The position combines teaching responsibilities in the large introductory physics classes with administrative duties related to the department’s teaching mission. These include assisting in planning the department teaching schedule, consulting with colleagues about teaching-related issues, acting as the department’s liaison to the University’s Learning Assistant program, running student peer mentoring programs, and developing curricular materials.
Required Skills
The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent degree. The department is especially interested in candidates who have a background in Physics Education Research, and who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through teaching and service.
